Rio Bravo Reptiles (seller) does not provide wild-caught reptiles
or other animals. We also discourage the general Commercial trade
in wild-collected reptiles and amphibians. Rio Bravo Reptiles strongly
supports responsible collecting and collecting techniques and eschews
environmentally destructive practices and policies, public and private.
In addition, Rio Bravo Reptiles is education-oriented and an advocate for the safe and humane keeping of the Boas and all pets. The keeping of Boas and other non-traditional pets is as enriching to young people (of all ages) as the care of dogs, cats and the rest of the so-called normal pet menagerie, and demonstrably safer. Read the Statistics. Further, Boa and other reptile pets foster learning of nature and natural systems and empathy for nature and wildlife.
We live in a time of political zealousness where many of our privileges
are under attack, including the right to keep reptiles and other
non-traditional pets. Opponents of these rights think in black and
white terms and disallow any positive outcome from the Reptile hobby.
In truth, all types of pets can cause problems or injury. There are
dog, cat and bird rescue facilities in most every city and horses
and other large animals are removed from poor or dangerous situations
routinely. All this costing millions in public and private funds.
Yet these problems don't usually taint owners of traditional pets.
Instances of abuse or misuse of reptiles can and do lead to indictments
of the keepers of Boas and other similar animals. The media and the
Internet play very large roles in how our hobby is viewed and judged
by the uninformed public and our public policy makers. I urge all
herpetoculturists to be careful in how they keep and present their
livestock.

safe care of happy people will do much more for you and all interested
parties than any sensational photo you may be tempted to use.

Delivery cost:
Packing and FedEx Priority overnight for a standard sized box to your door is normally $55.00 for a business address, $60.00 for residential delivery.
Deposits and payment plans are discouraged but will be considered on an individual basis. If after making a payment you change your mind on an available animal you may not get your money back. All sales are considered final after your purchase is safely delivered. In the unlikely event of any problem or dispute Seller will refund the purchase price or replace the animal at his discretion.
Guarantee:
Safe arrival is guaranteed. All shipments are coordinated with you, the buyer. You must provide a good address (no P.O. Boxes) and a working daytime phone number and you (or your adult agent) must be available to sign for the box when delivery is first attempted. Rural deliveries may require special planning.
More on shipping:
Usually we ship your choice of the first available Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday after payment is negotiated, business and government holidays excepted. Friday or Saturday delivery may be available at your request. Weather is also a factor. There may be other conditions which reasonably preclude shipment. We make every effort to see the shipment arrives when scheduled but Rio Bravo Reptiles cannot guarantee the arrival of any delivery at a specific time. This is in the hands of the carrier as well as random chance and mischance... Normally, Priority boxes are delivered between 10:00AM and noon but again, you must be available to receive the box if it is early or late. Shipments are always coordinated with you and you get a detailed notice when your box leaves here.
Boa Temperament:
If I have a boa which has shown unusual sensitivity I will advise potential buyers.. but I do not sell tame boa or mean boa nor will I guarantee the temperament of any Boa. Sellers who do so are (in my opinion) hopeful at best. Boas are not good or bad, mean or tame. They react to how they are treated and kept, it is up to us to insure our captives are given the care and consideration they require. Expecting our boas to react to us in a way we like is presumptuous and somewhat prejudicial. Anything from improper temperatures, loud music, smoking, another pet in the house or a new cologne (and many more things both obvious and covert) can illicit an undesirable reaction in a boa, even one which has been previously very calm.
Other important tips:
You are strongly encouraged to consider any specific husbandry advice given to you regarding animals from Rio Bravo Reptiles. Unlike generic ‘redtails’ or other pet-trade commodities, locality and insular boas can have unique requirements and habits.
